Ladakh - A Yoga Adventure Journey

28.Juli - 05.August 2023
9 Tage Asien, Indien, Ladakh

Ladakh, also known as "Little Tibet", lies high in the shadow of the world's highest peaks. Surrounded by the Himalayan and Karakorum mountain ranges, it is one of the most remote areas of India and offers unparalleled scenery. On our journey we dive into an original and Buddhist region with friendly and helpful people and a rich religious and cultural heritage. We visit monasteries, villages & palaces, have warm encounters and get to know the special way of life and culture of this part of India. Experience mysterious rituals and ceremonies in the monasteries and always find beautiful places where we meditate and let the impressions work on us. Empty streets amid lunar landscapes and an almost surreal view. We will cross rivers, pass through rocky deserts, stay in green oases, your yoga practice always with you to ground you in the here and now. A Riron that will inspire you and connect you to your deepest self.

The most important stations of our journey

Day 1 Arrival in Leh "Welcome to the land of the high passes.

From Delhi we fly to Leh (3500m) in the morning. We will be picked up at the airport and can check in directly at the guest house and have a rest.

Day 2  Leh - Trek to Shanti Stupa

We start the day slowly to acclimatize to the altitude, explore the city and its sights on foot. In the afternoon we do a small easy hike to the Shanti Stupa, situated on a hill on the outskirts of Leg with a fantastic view over the valley and a wonderful place for our evening meditation. We'll be back at the hotel for dinner.

Day 3 Leh to Nubra Valley

After a yoga session and a hearty breakfast, we start. In our minibus with our local driver, an exciting and scenic drive awaits you over one of the highest motorable passes in the world called "Khardung La". Two rivers, Shyiok and Nubra, cross the wide plain of the valley and make it fertile. Almond and walnut trees and delicious apricots thrive here. We spend the night in Diskit, a beautiful village, and end the day with a gentle yoga class.

Day 4 Diskit to Sumur

We start the day early to use the morning hours for a meditation in the monastery. Then it's about a 1 hour drive to Sumur. A beautiful village located directly on the Nubra river. If you want, you can refresh yourself in the glacier water. We explore the area on foot, enjoy the silence and wonderful area. We end the day at the campfire under the starry sky.

Day 5 Sumur to Pangong Lake

The Pangong Tsho is a saltwater lake in the Himalayas, 4250 meters above sea level,

stretching across the border between India and China. Like all lakes in Ladakh, this one is clear and its blues and greens change in intensity and proportion with the position of the sun. The drive there is also a highlight. If we're lucky we'll see wild horses grazing by the side of the road and yaks, a long-haired type of cattle found in high Asia. The journey takes about 6 hours. However, we have provisions with us and the breathtaking landscape already makes the way to the goal. In Pangong we still have some time to explore the area on foot and then move into a guest house for the night.

Day 6 Back to Leh

Over another high pass "Chang La" we go back to Leh. With a stop at Changala Cafe and Changla Baba Temple. In the afternoon we reach Leh again and rest in the hotel and end the day with a relaxed local dinner.

Day 7 Trip to Lamayuru "Moonland"

Today we drive west to Lamayuru, one of the largest and oldest monasteries in Ladakh. Today about 150 monks live in the monastery. when we have arrived and moved into our homestay, we take a relaxed walk up to the monastery. It is very touching to see how the monks of all ages live together in community. On our last visit we felt very welcome and the monks were open to nice conversations and questions. We end the day with a meditation in the countryside followed by dinner.

Day 8 Back to Leh

We drive back to Leh, where we can rest in the hotel first. Those who wish can stay in Leh or join us at Thicksey Monastery. It is one of the most impressive structures in Ladakh and houses a 15 m tall and particularly beautiful statue of Maitreya, the Buddha of the future. We end the evening relaxed in a restaurant in Leh.

Day 9 Flight back to Delhi

We bid farewell to Ladakh. On our flight we once again enjoy the view of the mountains and valleys.

You should be prepared for that

flexibility
For a trip in India, always have flexibility in your luggage. Plans (especially schedules) can often change, so we go with the flow and it often gets even better :). Since we are in a remote region and the travel routes also depend on the weather, short-term changes can also occur here. However, July and August are usually a great time to travel to Ladakh and we will have pleasant temperatures.
Height

We are always at a height of at least 3000m. already Leh, our starting point is at 3500 m.   That's why we use the first two days in Leh to slowly acclimatize and to rest. Headaches and tiredness may occur for the first few days until your body has adjusted to the altitude. Drinking plenty of water is very important. With breathing exercises and gentle yoga units we try to support our body in adapting.
Power outage and no internet

Since we will be going to very remote places, it may be that we have no reception in between or the accommodations have no/ or very poor WiFi (especially at Pangong Lake). However, we have a mobile phone with a local SIM and therefore reception almost everywhere. In Leh, the internet connection is usually stable and good.

Food & Accommodation

Eating vegetarian local food.

Wir freuen uns auf eine spannende, inspirierende & unvergessliche Reise mit dir.
